Usna Keating
BSc, MSc, MRes
Usna’s passion for nature led him to pursue a degree in Zoology, after which, he completed a Master’s Degree in Marine Biology, both at UCC.
He has worked as a scientist in Ireland and abroad, with universities, NGOs and government agencies. Usna has developed strong skills in research, planning and communication. He also undertook a Master’s by Research on a project exploring the relationship between afforestation in Ireland and the conservation of bird species of open-habitats, for the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine.
His main ecological interests encompass conservation of species, ornithology, fisheries, freshwater biology, climate change and dissemination of research. Usna has extensive experience in both ornithological and fisheries research and is a part time artist and environmental educator.
Usna has >3 years consultancy experience, in which he has been an ecologist on greenways, flood relief schemes and utilities infrastructure development projects. He has been involved in all aspects of projects, from design through to construction and operation.
