TIDY TOWNS
Flynn Furney Environmental Consultants has a long history of working with Tidy Towns – the largest environmental project in Ireland. Billy Flynn has been a National Tidy Towns Adjudicator since 2007 and has adjudicated hundreds of centres in this time. In 2010 he co-authored the Tidy Towns Handbook and in 2014 assisted in rewriting the Adjudicator’s Guidelines. In 2021 he wrote the new Tidy Towns Handbook section on the Nature and Biodiversity in Your Locality category.
Billy has been involved in training new Tidy Towns adjudicators since 2017. He has spoken at National Tidy Towns Conferences as well as presenting at many Tidy Towns seminars and workshops throughout the country. Billy has written numerous Tidy Towns Plans since 2010. These have included award-winning centres including Blackrock, Co. Louth, Listowel, Co. Kerry and Trim, Co. Meath. He has also written numerous Local Biodiversity Action Plans for Tidy Towns groups from Portmagee Co. Kerry and Coolagown, Co Cork to Monaghan Town. In recent years, Flynn Furney also partnered with Woodrow Sustainable Solutions to devise 12 Tidy Towns Plans for County Leitrim groups in a project funded by Leitrim Leader.
Between 2021 and 2023, Flynn Furney Environmental Consultants completed 45 Biodiversity Action Plans for community groups across Co. Monaghan via LEADER-funded projects, administered by Monaghan Integrated Development (MID). We developed biodiversity & pollinator action plans and delivered corresponding workshops to six community groups around Co. Leitrim in 2022 and 2023. In 2023, we also prepared Tidy Towns plans for groups in Co. Louth, including Carlingford, Dundalk, Ardee and Stabannon.
